Busy Week before Thanksgiving!

Busy Week before Thanksgiving!

We’re only a few days away from having a much-needed week off of school. However, Key Club is still running at full force, and we need your help to go off on a high before the break! Here’s where we need volunteers and support leading up to the break. This will all culminate in our Turkey Roll event on Saturday, November 17th. After that, we’ll see all of you back to make the winter season great with Key Club!

Monday — November 12

We’ve set out our Toy Drive donation box in Johnson’s room, room 235. Please drop off any new, unwrapped toy donations for Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital here. Make sure to attach the receipt with your name written on it, so that we can calculate hours for you with Key Club AND National Honor Society, if you’re a member. Every $10 spent is equal to a service hour with both clubs. Please make your donation before the end of the month so that children will have toys for the holiday season!

Tuesday — November 13

We have two things going on this day! First of all we need volunteers to sign up to help us sell Threads of Hope bracelets at all lunches. This is an amazing fundraiser that benefits our club AND charity. We need around 2 people per lunch, so sign up and get a service hour.

The next thing going on after school at 4:15PM in front of Denton High is our joint National Honor Society/Key Club school cleanup! I have received supply donations from Keep Denton Beautiful, enough for both of our clubs, so that we can leave our school in a good condition before the break. We need everyone who is free to join us and represent Key Club

Wednesday — November 14

In the morning at 6:30AM all members are invited to come to the weekly Kiwanis meeting with Denton Breakfast Kiwanis, our sponsoring adult club. The meeting takes place at the Embassy Suites in Denton at a meeting room nearest to the i35E side of the hotel. Free breakfast is provided, and you can meet members from Denton and other Key Clubs in the area.

We also need people to sign up to help us sell Threads of Hope bracelets in the morning before school, around 8:15AM. We will be doing this in the Bus Lane area, outside the Lecture Hall. Click the button above to “Volunteer for Threads of Hope” or come and show up to help out.

Thursday — November 15

Our very first club movie night will be happening this day! We will be showing a film in the Lecture Hall around 4:45PM. The club will also be selling concessions for $1 each–candy, popcorn, and drinks. All the proceeds will go towards the One Tree Planted organization which plants trees in at-risk areas around the world. Each $1 donation translates to a tree planted, so bring some cash for donations and concessions.

Join us before the movie in the Lecture Hall to help make posters for the TurkeyRoll on Thursday.

Saturday — November 17

The Turkey Roll is coming up fast! Our club will be managing two stops along this massive bicycle rally. We will meet between 7:00AM and 7:30AM at Immaculate Conception Church/School near North Lakes Park. Our club will then break up into two groups to go off to the stops. If you drive, please be open to carpooling with other members to help us all get to the stops efficiently. We will announce our theme later in the week.

The Turkey Roll will go until around 12PM or 1PM, however if you need to leave sooner, that is okay too. Lunch will be provided to all the members who make it until then. We need as many people as possible to sign up, so click the link below!

Other Upcoming Events

We have plenty more coming up, starting with a service project on November 28th at 8:15 in Johnson’s room, room 235.

The next club meeting will be December 4th at 8:15 in Johnson’s room or 4:15 in the Lecture Hall. We will be planning for all other upcoming events along with announcing restructuring and giving a survey to members to see how the officers are doing.

Please sign up for any events if you can, so that our club can have a strong standing at all of our upcoming events. Thanks!
